Small Bore Tubing

3sun Academy’s Small Bore Tubing course covers the recommendations in the UKOOA Small Bore Tube and Fitting Management Guidelines recommendations for personnel competency standards. The course is designed for tubing system designers, installers and maintainers/users in the offshore and petrochemical Industries and incorporates both a theoretical and practical assessment.

The course content conforms to Industry Guidelines, Chevron Texaco and Shell Expro maintenance, inspection and management standard/guidelines.

The course can be converted to a modular format to cater for offshore or site shift operational activities of candidates.

Course Content:

  • General selection of compression fittings and tubing products
  • Appreciation of tubing specification and design working pressure
  • Types of applications – hydrocarbon, hydraulic, general service, specialist application
  • Types and makes of fittings (other than ‘twin ferrule yype’) and connections, including thread types and identification, selection of material for termination onto tubing
  • The installation of instrumentation pipefitting systems and applications, including bending, routing, clamping and support
  • Periodic inspection, faults and failure causes, prevention and investigation

 

Assessment of Course

Competency certificate awarded on successful course completion and assessment. The course includes a range of practical exercises, and concludes with a test paper and evaluation.
Delegate Requirements:

Recommended for personnel who are actively involved on a regular basis with compression fitting and associated tubing, specification, installation, maintenance and assembly in an offshore or onshore environment associated with petrochemical/exploration and production industry.
