GWO Fire Awareness

Our half day GWO Fire Awareness course will provide candidates with the basic knowledge and skills to prevent fires, conduct initial and appropriate judgement when evaluating a fire and safe evacuation. Delegates will also be taught how to efficiently extinguish an initial fire by using basic hand held firefighting equipment.

A basic understanding of the principles of fire prevention and the emergency actions required during a fire can significantly reduce the number and severity of fires and fire related injuries.

Course Content:

  • Development and spread of fire
  • Causes of fires in wind turbines and the dangers related to this
  • Signs of a fire in a wind turbine environment
  • Contingency plans in a wind turbine environment including smoke detection and emergency escape procedures
  • Actions on discovering a fire including correct operation and fire extinguishing by means of the firefighting equipment in a WTG

 

Assessment of Course:

Candidates will be assessed through observation of practical skills. Upon successful completion of the course a certificate will be provided to the candidate and will be valid for two years.

 

Delegate Requirements:

Courses are of a strenuous nature; therefore a good level of fitness is advised and delegates must be medically fit. Candidates attending this course must have a good understanding of verbal and written English language.  We can accommodate any delegate with special needs providing we are advised at time of booking
